Individual Grants

Adaptive sports can open doors to competition, community, and personal growth—but participation often comes with added expenses. To help athletes and families navigate those costs, we’ve compiled a list of grant and funding opportunities that may assist with equipment, travel, training, and more.

SAS Athlete Scholarship Program

Our scholarship program helps SAS athletes with program fees, adaptive equipment needs, and tournament travel expenses. We believe every athlete deserves the opportunity to participate and compete.

The Fall Cycle closes August 1st.

JRob Foundation Grant

We want to make a difference by providing adaptive sporting equipment to children with physical disabilities or challenges, who are 18 years of age or younger.

Grants must be received by ​August 15, 2026

Kelly Brush Foundation Active Fund

This grant is for individuals with spinal cord injuries, helping them purchase adaptive sports equipment to lead active lives. There are two grant cycles per year, so be sure to check their website for the next deadline.

The Fall 2026 Cycle is not yet open. Applications close in September.

GoHawkeye Sports Enabling Grant

The GoHawkeye grant program is open to adaptive individuals and organizations in the United States and consists of adaptive sports equipment and adaptive sports experience grants. The grant cycle is biannual ending May 1 and November 1.

Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) Grant

• The Annual Sport Expense & Participation Grant has a maximum award amount of $1,500.
• The Annual Adaptive Sports Equipment Grant has a maximum award amount of $1,500.

Application window runs October 1st – November 14th.

Surfgimp Foundation

Surfgimp Foundation assists individuals with disabilities to pursue an active lifestyle by awarding grant funding to help cover the cost of equipment, travel, lessons, support personnel, entry fees etc. so they can participate in activities of their choosing. 

The 2027 grant application window is open October 1st to December 1st.
