As we reflect on 2025, we are reminded that SAS is built on more than programs and events.  It is built on people – those who show up, play hard, and elevate the experience for everyone on and off the court.

In Memory of a Friend

This year, we lost a teammate and friend, Karl Robinson.

Wheelchair basketball was Karl’s chosen sport, and from the start he brought dedication, determination, and a genuine belief in the work Seattle Adaptive Sports does for the disabled community. He was always looking for ways to support the team and the organization that gave him the opportunity to compete and round out his already full life.

On a team, we share more than just the game—we share pieces of our lives. Karl served in the Coast Guard, built a career in tech, supported a loving family and partner, and explored the world through camping, off-roading, and photography. We are grateful he chose to share part of his journey with SAS.

Karl’s impact will remain a part of this organization for years to come.

Growing Leadership, Staying Aligned

In 2025, we expanded our Board of Directors to better represent and support all SAS programs.  This growth strengthens the organization and ensures alignment with our mission as we continue to serve athletes across disciplines.

This expansion brings a broader perspective, helping SAS remain responsive, sustainable, and grounded in the needs of our community.

Building Through Partnership

Community partnerships continued to play a vital role this year. Through collaboration with local organizations, supporters, and volunteers, we improved experiences for our participants and increased the number of adaptive sports opportunities.

These partnerships allow us to do more – and do it better – together.

Moving Forward

As we move into the year ahead, we carry with us the people, lessons, and shared purpose that define SAS.  We honor those who have been part of our journey, and we remain committed to building a community where everyone belongs.

Thank you for all that you have done with and for my family member Karl Robinson.
