We are seeking passionate individuals for specific volunteer roles within our organization. Please see open opportunities below.

Are you passionate about adaptive sports and looking for a way to make a difference? We have an exciting opportunity for you! Seattle Adaptive Sports is seeking three new members for our Board of Directors. This is a chance to contribute your skills and energy to a dynamic and important cause, and to make a real impact in the lives of people with physical disabilities in the Greater Seattle Area.

What does it mean to be a Board Member?

As a board member, you’ll serve as a volunteer for a three-year term. Your role will involve participating in monthly board and committee meetings, providing counsel to Seattle Adaptive Sports staff, and making our organization a personally meaningful part of your individual philanthropy.

But it’s not just about attending meetings. We’re a working board, which means we rely on our board members to supplement the bandwidth of our paid staff. This might involve anywhere from 1-3 hours a week of operational activity.

Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking individuals who bring insights, energy, and enthusiasm for the work of Seattle Adaptive Sports. You should represent our broad and diverse adaptive sports community. A strong enthusiasm for team sports, recreation, and serving people with disabilities is essential. However, you don’t need formal or professional adaptive sports experience to be an effective board member.

We’re particularly interested in candidates with professional skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Engineering or product management leadership
  • Finance or accounting, particularly for nonprofits
  • Legal experience
  • Nonprofit fundraising (development) roles with experience in grant-writing and research
  • Operational leadership roles in marketing or competencies in member and community engagement and marketing
  • Prior experience serving on a nonprofit Board of Directors

Ready to Get Involved?

If you’re interested in serving on the Seattle Adaptive Sports Board of Directors, we’d love to hear from you. To apply, please submit the following materials to jenn@seattleadaptivesports.org with the subject line “Board Position” by December 1, 2024:

  1. A letter of interest outlining how you see your experience contributing to the success of Seattle Adaptive Sports
  2. A resume or CV that reflects your professional background

We’re excited to hear from you, and we can’t wait to welcome our new board members to the team. Let’s work together to continue making adaptive sports accessible and enjoyable for everyone in our community.
